Archduke

Here you will find a collection dedicated to Archduke Ludwig Salvator, who was born in Florence in 1847, to the Astro-Tuscan branch of the ancient House of Habsurg. When he was 20 years old he decided to ignore the conventions and labels the court of Vienna and began exploration trips around the world in his ships Nixe I and Nixe II.

He arrived in Mallorca in 1876 and, over the course of forty years, bought up land, houses and summer residences, mostly between the districts of Deiá and Valldemossa.

In this collections, made up of artistic, documentary and bibliographic records from his estate, Son Moragues and private collections, you can see more than 70 scientrific publications and books written by the Archduque, as well as photographs and souvenirs of his travels, possessions of his, evidence of the relationship the Archduke mainatained with Erwin Hurbert, Vuillier Gaston and his lover Catalina Homar, the namesake of one of his books.
